Autism 101: An Overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders

 Autism Consultant and Neurodevelopment Specialist Elana Himmelfarb will be presenting an informational lecture on Autism Spectrum Disorders and the multiple ways they affect an individual’s life.

We will examine the main domains affected by Autism and Asperger’s and identify the areas that create challenges for many individuals and their families:

 Sensory Processing

Emotion Regulation

Social Awareness and Skills

Cognitive Ability, Executive Function and Learning

Physical and Medical Issues

Developmental Delays

Due to time constraints this lecture is intended to provide an initial broad overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Handouts will be provided. Elana is available in the future to continue the lecture series and explore Autism and Asperger’s in more depth based upon feedback and interest.
