Theatre Department: Sunday, September 12th @ 2:30 p.m.

Professor Shelly Ellman teaches Acting and Directing and is the U.W.G. Director of Theatre.  Her lecture will focus on forthcoming U.W.G. productions of "Rent" and "These Shining Lives."

Math Department: Sunday, October 10th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Ayona Chatterjee is a Statistician in the U.W.G. Mathematics Department whose main research interest is studying dietary data to assess the risk of pesticide intake.  The title of Dr. Chatterjee's talk is "What is in your grocery bag?", a look at how the Food and Drug Administration collects data on food consumption habits of the population and what information can be extracted from such data.

Music Department: Sunday, November 21st @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Elizabeth Kramer is a musicologist who specializes in early nineteenth-century German music, aesthetics, and culture.  Her presentation, "Composing Farewell in 1810: Beethoven's Piano Sonata in E flat, Op. 81a," considers ways in which music in general, and Beethoven's music in particular, might be heard as expressive of human emotions, thoughts, and experiences.

Philosophy Department: Sunday, December 5th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Mark Tietjen teaches both philosophy and religion at U.W.G.  He specializes in the overlap of two areas: philosophy of religion, and one of its most interesting figures, Søren Kierkegaard.  The title of his lecture program is: Kierkegaard, Christianity, and a Peculiar Kind of Philosophy.
Physics Department: Sunday, January 23rd @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Bob Powell is an experimental physicist, who is in his forty-fourth year at the University of West Georgia.  He is director of the University of West Georgia Observatory.  In addition to condensed matter physics, he is interested in astronomy, alternative energy, and the teaching of physics.  His lecture will be "The Universe via the West Georgia Observatory."

Political Science Department: Sunday, February 20th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Paul Rutledge is an Assistant Professor in Political Science and Planning, whose teaching and research focus on American politics, the American Presidency, and Public administration and public policy.  He is a graduate of West Virginia University (2009).  The title of Dr. Rutledge's talk will be “Opportunity, Accomplishment, and Unpopularity: the Presidency of Barack Obama”. 
Psychology Department: Sunday, March13th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Don Rice is Professor and Chair of the department of psychology at the University of West Georgia.  His lecture will explore how sleep and dreaming affects our everyday life.  The lecture will include information on sleep and health, sleep disorders, and dream interpretation.

Sociology/Criminology Department: Sunday, April 10th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Todd Matthews is an environmental sociologist who is interested in the side effects of economic development (pollution), as well as issues of water quality and availability.  He will discuss “Local Pollution Havens: Places Where Ecology and Economy Both Lose,” focusing on his research examining locales with relatively high levels of toxic pollution, low levels of economic rewards from said pollution, and also low levels of regulatory protection.
Mass Communications Department: Sunday, May 8th @ 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Meda Rollings joined the U.W.G. Mass Communication and Theatre department in 2007.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Theatre from Albany State University, a Master’s of Arts degree in Corporate Communications from Austin Peay State University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration from Mercer University.  Dr. Rollings has conducted research on campus safety in higher education, female body image, and instructional leadership.  Her lecture will focus on “A Call for Leadership: The Role of the Institutional Leaders’ Regarding Campus Safety Initiatives.”
